In the early hours of this morning, Google quietly launched its competitor to Twitch. YouTube Gaming aims to be a one-stop-shop for video game streaming, hoping to draw from the site’s impressive army of Let’s Players and userbase. Gaming videos can still be found on the vanilla version of YouTube; YouTube Gaming only aims to aggregate gaming-related content. However, live-streams are subject to YouTube’s copyright checks. Even with this hindrance, it’ll be interesting to see how YouTube Gaming shakes up the live-streaming scene. Competition is good for the industry, and I look forward to seeing how Twitch and Google innovate in the future.

Jackson Murphy is eighteen years old. He is a dumb college student that you would probably hate.
