Steam’s Summer Sale is now well under way, and one of the games on offer is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which you can get for a reduced price at $7.49. However, Valve is not allowing players to gift the game to friends during the sale, as it will not help “grow the community.” Valve’s Ido Magel stated that their ultimate aim is to build a community, and the users who tend to stick around are those who buy the game for themselves.
“CS:GO will not be giftable during the sale, our goal with sales is to grow the community and historically, during sales, the new users that stick around are mainly the ones that purchase copies for themselves.” — Ido Magel
Some users are arguing that this is a good thing, as it will partially stop players from stocking up their inventories full of gifts to use for later. What do you think about their decision? Let us know in the comments below!
