Analyst David Gibson’s Twitter feed is full on Nintendo data, for
anyone who wants to follow the company’s financial patterns. A
particularly noteworthy tweet of his, though, is that Nintendo has
lowered their Wii U sales forecast for this fiscal year again, now down
to 4.3 million units. However, December was a good month for the system,
selling 26 times what it sold in September in the Japanese market
thanks in no small part to the release of
Super Mario 3D World.
another tweet he noted that despite all the bad press the Wii U has
been getting, it an the 3DS made up 3/4s of the third quarter’s profits,
so it is not doing as poorly as many would think.
Nintendo – WiiU we now forecast 4.3m for FY3/14 down from 6.8m prior, but Dec in JP was 26x Sept levels driven by Super Mario 3D World
