Legendary gaming mascots (and bitter rivals-turned-friends) Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog will be facing off in the Olympic Games once again. Since the Beijing 2008 iteration, the Nintendo and SEGA icons have squared off on a bi-yearly basis for every Winter and Summer Olympics, and with the upcoming games in Rio, this year will be no different.

The Nintendo 3DS version of
Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games launches on March 18th, but word on the Wii U front remains scarce. However, a release window for the home console version has finally been made known, set to be sometime in June later this year.

The announcement came by way of toy company Tomy’s booth at the New York Toy Fair, on the same poster that
confirmed a Fall 2016 launch for the delayed Nintendo 3DS title Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice.

Will you be grabbing the next
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics game once it is released on either console? Sound off in the comments below!
