Following the massive success of
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and a great reception for that title’s card minigame, CD Projekt Red took that card game component and started making it into a standalone title. They revealed this new work, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, at E3 this year and announced that it would receive a closed beta in September. Unfortunately for hopeful participants, today they posted a message on the Gwent website saying that the beta has been pushed back to October 25th, as they want “extra time with the game” before players start testing it out.
“At E3 we announced that we’d launch the Closed Beta of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game in September. Unfortunately, we feel we need some extra time with the game before we hand it off to you for testing. We know we can make a first impression only once, and want to be sure everything is ready before we blast off. Delivering a good game is more important to us than keeping a deadline. Still, that doesn’t mean we don’t realize that delays can be disappointing, and we apologize for making you wait. Closed Beta will now begin on October 25th.”

While it will be an extra month out, hopefully CD Projekt Red can use this time to make the experience even better than before. It also gives any gamers interested in participating in the closed beta more time to
sign up for it.
Are you looking forward to
Gwent? Have you signed up for the beta? How do you feel about this delay? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
