Last week, Telltale Games announced that they are closing down due to financial woes and lackluster sales. A small skeleton crew remains employed at the company in order to finish Minecraft: Story Mode, their co-production with Netflix. All other planned titles, including second seasons of The Wolf Among Us and Game of Thrones, were reportedly canceled.

However, they kept mum on their current project, The Walking Dead: The Final Season. With only two episodes released, the second half of the game remains incomplete. Even the voice actress of Clementine, Melissa Hutchinson, was unaware of the game’s future. But after much anticipation, Telltale released a statement via their Twitter on the fate of the ultimate The Walking Dead episodes.

“Hi everyone, we have a Walking Dead update for you. Multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion. While we can’t make any promises today, we are actively working towards a solution that will allow episodes 3 and 4 to be completed and released in some form. In the meantime, episode 2 will release tomorrow across all platforms as planned. We hope to have answers to your other questions soon.”

The statement remains vague about when the episodes will be released. Their use of “in some form” also calls into question whether the episodes will be video games at all, and perhaps Telltale will simply release cinematic episodes in order to complete the story. It’s also entirely possible that Telltale will pass on development to another company, or that they will use outside resources to keep their skeleton crew together until they can finish both Minecraft and The Walking Dead.

Speculation aside, only time will tell when and how Clementine’s story be completed. But, at the very least, it now sounds like it probably will be completed.

Hi, I'm Mark. I'm like Statler and Waldorf if they were one person, except cuter. I'm an aspiring author, a Nintendo fanboy, and a recovering Sonic fanboy. But you can never really recover from that. I main Lucina in Smash Bros, and I think that says more about me than anything else can.
