Independently developed games often do not get the recognition they deserve. It is always wonderful to see a developer pass the barrier between the niche and obscure into the mainstream and popular because of this. Chucklefish Games is one such developer, as their game Stardew Valley has just surpassed one million sales. In a recent statement sent to Polygon, Chucklefish confirmed that its farming and life simulator has hit around 1,007,000 sales as of April 13th, making it the third most downloaded game on Steam of 2016, behind Ark: Survival of The Fittest and H1Z1 (according to SteamSpy).
This news does not come as much of a surprise, however, as Stardew Valley was already halfway to one million sales in just two weeks after it released on February 26th. Stardew Valley has definitely made its rounds on YouTube in recent history as well, possibly contributing a major number of sales from that fanbase. Regardless of where they came from, though, Stardew Valley seems to be a game that you will not want to miss this year.
