In a recent interview with Time Magazine, Sony global game development boss Shawn Layden dished on the future of PlayStation, virtual reality, and…the Nintendo Switch?

Apparently, Layden is quite impressed with Nintendo’s new hybrid console. In the interview he said that the Switch is “definitely what the fanbase has been waiting for.” He also claimed not to see the Switch and PlayStation 4 as competitors, but as complementary devices:

“When you look at our numbers, I think it shows that a lot of gamers are a two-console family […] And quite often those two consoles are PlayStation and Nintendo sitting side-by-side.” — Shawn Layden

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen interest in the Switch from a higher-up at Sony, as Shuhei Yoshida was spotted at a public event for the new console earlier this year.

Do you think Layden’s comments are accurate? Let us know below!
