Back during the days of console mascots, Sony had two competitors to Nintendo’s Mario and Sega’s Sonic: Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. However, as Sony moved on to newer consoles, they left these two icons behind after selling the rights to these characters, which are currently held by Activision; Spyro was somewhat revitalized with the Skylanders games, but Crash hasn’t gotten a new main-series title since 2008. However, if a recent tweet from one of the PlayStation Twitter accounts is anything to go by, that could change soon.
The PlayStation Middle East Twitter account tweeted out an image of Crash a few days ago with a caption that translates to “Most Wanted: Where Are You Crash?” This has led to speculation once again that Sony has something planned for the Crash Bandicoot series, as this is the third tease from the company on the topic. Perhaps this could mean that something could be in the works? Maybe, but that is complicated by the series’ rights ownership; Activision currently owns the rights to Crash, so if a new game from Sony is in the works it would have to either be a collaboration with Activision or Activision would have to sell the rights back to Sony.
