Gotta Go Fast: The Official Sonic the Hedgehog Panel at SXSW this year was rife with news that delighted fans of the smash hit Sonic Mania. Chief among them was the reveal of a brand new short animation series, helmed by Tyson Hesse via Neko Productions (the same team that brought you the amazing opening of the game itself) and musician Tee Lopes, justly called Sonic Mania Adventures.

After teasing SXSW attendees with a short clip, the full first episode was finally uploaded via Sonic’s social media channels earlier today. It follows the events from Mania and shows Classic Sonic’s return to his world after Sonic Forces. If you enjoy slapstick Saturday morning cartoons, you might get a major kick out of the short itself above!

The SXSW Sonic panel also revealed a major expansion coming to Sonic Mania and a physical release of the game, which includes Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo returning as playable characters in a Sonic game for the first time in over two decades. A new Sonic racing title has also been teased.

Jeffrey is a writer for Gamnesia and The Sonic Stadium, and a pianist obsessed with video game music. Loves all things Nintendo to a fault, and enjoys long walks on the Green Hill Zone. Pretty much Gamnesia's resident Sonic fan, my dude.
