Nintendo has a history of making silly commercials for their games that merge reality and immersion. Who could forget the live-action dance party to advertise The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, or when a bus full of Pokémon got horrifically shrunk down back in 1998, and of course the commercial for the original Super Smash Bros., where a bunch of people dressed as Nintendo characters brawled in a field of sunflowers to Happy Together?

While it’s up to you to decide if this new Japanese commercial for
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS lives up to the silliness of Nintendo’s previous offerings, it still has their spirit in the form of everyday players blasting off into oblivion when their characters get knocked out in-game. While it certainly won’t gather as much attention as the commercial for Mario Kart 8‘s Mercedes DLC, this ad features an enjoyable half-minute in its own right that you can see above.

Name's Drew. Currently making my way through Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series and waiting for The Winds of Winter (A Song of Ice and Fire 6). I'm a subscriber to Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, and Mega Man and I read Superior Spider-man when I can. I'm a pretty big Nintendo fan, but enjoy the other companies as well. As it stands, I have a Wii U and a new gaming desktop (3.5ghz processor, 2GB video card, 8GB RAM with support for 32GB) and plan on getting a PS4 in 2014. As for Xbox One, we'll see, but I'm sure I'll add it eventually.
