Nintendo promised Super Smash Bros. fans that Amiibo figurines of Cloud and Bayonetta would be launching in 2016, but as the end of the year draws closer, we’ve heard almost nothing. According to a new report, that’s because they’ve been delayed. We’ve previously heard rumors and reports from insider Emily Rogers and Kantan Games CEO Dr. Serkan Toto stating that Super Smash Bros. (most likely an updated version of the one on Wii U) is coming to Nintendo Switch, and according to Dale, this is the cause of the Amiibo delay.
According to two of Dale’s sources, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch won’t be a launch title (according to Toto, that was originally the plan), but it is expected to release within six months of the system’s debut. In the meantime, the two promised Amiibo are being held back so that they can launch alongside the new version of the game.
