While it’s been quite some time since Nintendo announced their next-generation console, currently going under the production title NX, the company has held true to its promise that no more information will be revealed until 2016. But now that 2016 has come, reports and rumors are slowly starting to emerge regarding the gaming system.

The latest whisper of NX comes from Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki, who claims to have gotten some information from David Gibson, a trusted insider often present at closed-door Nintendo events. According to Mochizuki, Gibson says the NX “may work with smartphones, PCs, and even rival consoles such as PlayStation 4.”

Will you be happy if this is true? What kind of functionality do you expect from such compatibility? Let us know in the comments below.

A few of my all-time favourite video games include The Legend of Zeldas: Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask, Mass Effect 2, Rayman 2, and most importantly, Xenoblade. If I ever catch you making a "really feeling it" joke in our comments, you can bet your ass I'll hide it, you casual scum. Feel free to send me a private message if you have something you'd like to discuss... or if you just want to say hi!
