A few weeks ago it was confirmed that Pokémon Sun and Moon were Nintendo’s fastest selling games to reach over four million units sold. It appears that the titles sold well over this figure, as during Nintendo’s recent financial briefing it was revealed that the games reached over 13 million sales by the end of December. A press release from Nintendo stated that “the worldwide release of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon generated buzz and led to blockbuster sales.”

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire sold more than three million copies in their first two days, they didn’t even approach 10 million sales until six months after release. Pokémon Sun and Moon have reached this milestone and more just over a month after launch.

Nintendo also reported that
Super Mario Maker for 3DS did relatively well, managing to pass the one million units sold mark by the end of December.
