Pokémon GO kept literally millions of trainers busy in its world of augmented reality when the game was introduced last summer. To commemorate its one-year anniversary, Niantic has decided to host a variety of events in the next couple months. Coupled with the news that legendary Pokémon will be arriving in the game, it sounds like this summer should be a pretty fun time for Pokéfans.
First off, a Solstice Event will kick things off on June 13th. It will fittingly feature Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon to battle and catch, and XP bonuses will be rewarded for throwing Poké Balls accurately. Lucky eggs will also be discounted in the game’s shop.
The next event is “Pokémon GO Fest Chicago!” which will be the first “real-world” Pokémon GO event. On July 22nd in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, real-life festivities will be shared for the city and those excited enough to go. Tickets will go on sale for the event on June 19th at 10:00 AM PT at the Pokémon GO Fest website.
These events are accompanied by a list of other celebrations in Europe hosted at Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers throughout different European countries. A full list for these events will be released soon. Also, The Pokémon Company will be hosting a “Pikachu Outbreak” event in Yokohama, Japan in August, which promises to present “a unique Pokémon GO experience.”
On top of the news that Pokémon GO has been downloaded more than 750 million times globally, it sounds like the game might be picking up momentum once more. Are you excited to train again? What do you think this summer will have in store? Tell us what you would like to see in the comments below!
