Okami is a beloved game, and while it has a sister game Okamiden for the Nintendo DS, it has never received a full-blown sequel on home consoles. PlatinumGames director and game designer Hideki Kamiya would love to change that, among a great many things he would like to work on in the future.

“I want to work on a
Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe remake, or a true sequel for Okami. A cooperation with Dante (from Devil May Cry) and Bayonetta might also be fun. Dear Capcom, if it’s okay with someone like me, I will help anytime. Best regards. Everyone, bow down your heads together with me!” — Hideki Kamiya, PlatinumGames director and game designer

We have heard such statements from Kamiya before, including indications that he even has plans for what an Okami sequel would be like, but it appears Capcom (the owner of these IP) has not yet taken advantage of those desires. Even so, it is good to hear that his fervent hope remains strong to this day, as it no doubt does for many fans of Kamiya’s work.

Would you like to see a new
Okami game or have Bayonetta and Dante collaborate in some way? Would a Viewtiful Joe remake be something you would be interested in as well? Let us know what you think about Kamiya’s enthusiasm in the comments below!

Our Verdict

Hey all! I've been a gamer since I was three. I'm one of those people with gaming so ingrained in them that watching my father play Super Mario 64 is actually my first memory I can recall. I love writing too! I'm writing an original fantasy series that takes place in another universe; it may take some inspiration from some of my favorite franchises. I've been a journalist for a few years, have worked on local and national teams, and have garnered experience assigning stories, editing, writing, interviewing, hosting a television series, running a YouTube channel, and doing other stuff that's more fun to mention in conversation. Bios can drag on. Anyway, I'm super stoked to be a part of the Gamnesia team! Thanks for having me!
