Google always does something awesome for April Fool’s Day, and this year is no exception. If you visit Google Maps, you will be able to use the streets of pretty much anywhere as a PAC-MAN board. It will not likely last long after April 1st, so if you want to play, do so sooner rather than later. The game can be played anywhere there are roads on a computer, and in various places around the world hinted at on Google Map’s support page on mobile devices. What are you waiting for? Grab a power pellet and get munching!

If you’re on mobile, you’ll need to hunt for a PAC-MAN location marker somewhere in the world. Think famous places with lots of roads. If you’re on a proper browser, however, all you need to do is pick a spot and click on the PAC-MAN mode at the bottom-left:

All the streets will turn into paths and you’ll be free to be eaten by ghosts to your heart’s content. A disclaimer: Google’s instructions page says any of the four main browsers will work (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Explorer), but I didn’t see the button when I visited Maps in Firefox. All these images were taken from Chrome.

Happy munching.

One of my earliest memories with games was just after Pokémon had come out in the states for the first time. I remember, after having watched the show for a couple weeks, stumbling across a friend with an original Gameboy playing Pokémon Red version using a Weedle. When he told me he was playing Pokémon, I told him I didn't know there was a Pokémon that had a pumpkin for a head. Boy games have come a long way. Speaking of games, I also contribute to making them somewhat professionally, and ocassionaly write about them. You should see some of that games writing stuff, I hear it's real popular with the kids these days.
