The first generation of Pokémon games released on February 27th, 1996, and Game Freak is planning “a great year of celebrations” to mark the occasion. This includes re-releasing the original games on 3DS with added wireless features. In Japan, Nintendo is launching four different 2DS bundles that come pre-loaded with a Generation I game that matches the color of the system.

This deal hasn’t been announced for North America at this time, but Game Freak has something else in store. Announced today, you’ll be able to pick up a New Nintendo 3DS that comes with
Pokémon Red & Blue pre-installed. This bundle also comes with two decorative face plates — one featuring Charizard and one featuring Blastoise. Details on pricing have not yet been announced, but the bundle will release on February 27th.
