Nintendo just published its third-quarter earnings release, highlighting software sales, hardware sales, revenue, and more for the period of October 1st – December 31st, 2018. As you might expect, they pulled in some pretty big numbers during this holiday period thanks to big hits like Pokémon: Let’s Go and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
This sales boost helped Nintendo Switch reach an impressive milestone, as the hybrid console passed up 30 million units sold. As of the start of the new year, Nintendo Switch has sold 32.27 million units worldwide through 22 months on the market. This puts it just behind Wii, Nintendo’s most successful home console of all time, which had sold 34.55 million units through 21 and a half months.
This also means that Switch has most likely passed up Nintendo 64 in total sales. Nintendo 64’s final sales figure is listed as 32.93, just slightly ahead of Switch. However, Switch has had all of January to make up that small gap, as the Switch tally is correct as of December 31st, 2018.
