Nier: Automata is one of the best games that came out last year. It blew everyone away with its amazing gameplay, gripping story, and one heck of a soundtrack to jam out to. It was only a matter of time before fans started begging Square Enix to port the games to other systems.

Luckily, the game is making its way to Xbox One later this year. But some people want more. As with most popular third party games, Nintendo fans would love to see a Switch version of Nier: Automata. If you’re waiting for it, don’t give up hope yet.

Director Yoko Taro, Producer Yosuke Saito, and designer Takahisa Taura were all recently on an E3 stream, in which the three of them talked about the release of the Xbox One version of the game. To start, they apologized for taking so long with the port. Inevitably though, the whole team started joking about a Nintendo Switch version.

Yoko Taro is quite the mysterious person. He often jokes about things that may hide a deeper meaning, and a Switch version of Automata might be more of a tease than a harmless joke. Then again, maybe we should just take this at face value for what it is: a joke.

But don’t lose hope just yet. There seems to be a hint of truth to what Taro is saying, exclaiming “I want a Switch version, Taura-san! Give it to me!” This could just be a nod to how eager Nintendo fans are to have everything on Switch, but this could be a genuine request too.

Either way, it seems fans are eager to see this title come to the Nintendo Switch along with other critically acclaimed games. For now, Square Enix and Platinum are much more likely to finish up the Xbox One version first. After that, maybe we’ll see the game come to the portable home console. In fact, it’s possible the only reason we’re seeing games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Resident Evil VII come to the Nintendo Switch is because of fan outcry. So if you want to see a game make its way to the system, don’t ever stop talking about it.

Yosuke Saito even jokes about this later in the video when they have Takahisa Taura’s Twitter account on the screen, saying “if everyone asks him for it, then there may be a possibility that it would become a reality.” So you guys know what to do. Go ahead and ask Taura himself to bring the game to Switch.

It will be interesting to come back to this a year from now to see the full effect of fan outcry. Think back to a whole year ago when Bandai Namco talked about porting FighterZ to Switch, or even when Nintendo finally made Majora’s Mask 3D. Fan requests can go a long way, and it’s important to let companies know what you want. Without that sort of outcry, companies may never know what kind of games they should bring to other systems.

What games would you guys like to see come to Nintendo Switch? Would you rather see titles from last year like Nier, or would you rather see newer games like Rage 2? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
