Longtime Halo protagonist Master Chief is getting plenty of love later this year with the Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, but that time in the spotlight might not extend to next year. Agent Jameson Locke, a character in Ridley Scott’s live-action Halo: Nightfall series, is slated to make an appearance in Halo 5: Guardians, but the extent of his role is unknown. According to a recent interview with Mike Coulter, the actor who plays Locke, he’ll be the primary character.
Speaking with X-One magazine, Coulter explained that
Nightfall will help set the stage for
Halo 5: Guardians, in which Locke will be the primary character. Additionally, the search for Master Chief will be a major part of the story, with its ending currently left very much a mystery.
Once Halo: The Master Chief Collection is released, and then Halo 5 comes out shortly thereafter, you’re basically going to be playing a game with me as the primary character. I’ll have some cool weaponry, and some cool abilities, because by that time I’ll be a Spartan IV.

Is he dead or alive? Because that’s usually what a manhunt comes down to, dead or alive, but you won’t know what the purpose of finding Master Chief is [right away]. Or what will happen if we do find him, what condition he will be in, and where he’s at mentally. But I’m sure that’ll be a plot twist in Halo 5.
