Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam recently launched on 3DS in Japan, and its debut was underwhelming. According to the Media Create sales report, it sold around 50,000 units in its first week. According to their follow-up report, that means it sold through less than 18% of its initial shipment. By comparison, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team sold around 100,000 copies at launch with a sell-through of 25.49%, and Paper Mario: Sticker Star sold around 129,000 copies at launch with a 33.42% sell-through. It looks like combining the two struggling franchises did not spark interest in the new game, at least in Japan.
