To say that Mario Kart 8 is an evergreen title would be one of the biggest understatements possible. The Nintendo racer was the top-selling game on Wii U with over 8 million copies sold, and then Nintendo re-released it on Switch with extra content to even more impressive sales. Nearly two years later (and nearly five years after the Wii U release), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling strong, and it just hit a major milestone.

According to the latest data from Nintendo’s third-quarter earnings release, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has now sold over 15 million copies, making it the top-selling game on Switch in addition to topping the Wii U charts. Between the two versions, it has now sold over 23 million copies total. Given that Switch sales now sit just over 32 million, we know that nearly 50% of Switch owners have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
