Yesterday we finally got a release date for Insomniac’s upcoming Spider-Man title on PlayStation 4. The web-slinging adventure launches on September 7th, 2018, and Insomniac won’t be looking to nickel and dime you after you’ve paid the game’s base price. While there is DLC planned for Spider-Man, we have confirmation that the game won’t include any microtransactions.

This info comes from Bryan Intihar, the Creative Director on Insomniac’s
Spider-Man. When asked about the possibility of in-game purchases, Intihar emphatically replied “Hell no.” Insomniac Community Director James Stevenson later revealed via PlayStation Blog that there is planned DLC. Specifically, Stevenson announced that there will be new chapters in a post-launch DLC series titled “Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps.” This includes three new chapters, each with new missions, new villains and characters, and additional suits for Spider-Man.

You’ll be able to purchase this DLC individually, or as part of the Digital Deluxe edition of the game for $79.99. For players in the US and Canada, the Digital Deluxe edition also comes with a limited edition collectible pin featuring Spider-Man as he appears on the cover art for the game. There will also be a Collector’s Edition for $149,99, and it includes all of the digital content from the Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as a Steelbook case featuring the iconic white spider, Mini Artbook from Titan Books, and an awesome Marvel’s Spider-Man statue by Gentle Giant.
