Insomniac’s hotly-anticipated video game adaptation of
Spider-Man will finally launch on PlayStation 4 on September 7th. Hype for the web-slinging adventure is high, but some fans are concerned over footage showing a succession of quick time events, or QTEs. Timed button presses during cinematic sequences are common in games, but when overused they can interrupt the flow of gameplay.
When one fan complained about exactly that on Twitter, Insomniac decided to respond. The developer called QTEs a “very very minor point” of the game and indicated that they are restricted to cinematic sequences. Insomniac then pointed to the recent Game Informer footage of Spider-Man as proof that QTEs aren’t disruptive to gameplay.
