Last night the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning faced off in game three of the seven-game finals series for the NHL’s Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, their mascots—Iceburgh and ThunderBug—faced off against Toad, Bowser, and the rest of the Mario crew in a fierce karting race. As part of the intermission, a mock game of Super Mario Kart was projected onto the 200-foot long rink. You can watch fan footage of the spectacle below. While the clip doesn’t make it clear which karter won, the Penguins ended up beating Lightning 4-2, putting them ahead in the series.

A few of my all-time favourite video games include The Legend of Zeldas: Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask, Mass Effect 2, Rayman 2, and most importantly, Xenoblade. If I ever catch you making a "really feeling it" joke in our comments, you can bet your ass I'll hide it, you casual scum.
