The Xbox One has been trying to sell itself as less of a video game console and more as an entertainment console. A recent Reddit thread saw Microsoft’s very own Larry Hyrb, better known as Major Nelson, suggest an intriguing incentive to purchase the machine; specifically, Hyrb may pitch to his coworkers the idea of funding new Futurama episodes and making them viewable only on Microsoft products. On the subject of doing so, Hyrb gave something of a non-committal response:
“I’ll suggest this to the folks on our side. No promises or confirmation that anything can happen though. Just to manage expectations ;)” — Larry Hyrb
New episodes of Futurama are certainly an appealing prospect to many consumers. Could the idea ever come to fruition, perhaps even converting Sony or Nintendo faithfuls?
