Epic’s Fortnite has become one of the most popular games in the world in recent months, which makes for a pretty rough situation when it suddenly stops working. Last night Epic announced that the game’s servers were going offline for emergency maintenance. Eventually they began serving login queues again, but the wait times are terrible, and many still haven’t been able to play a match since yesterday.
Epic recently addressed the situation in a brief Reddit post, and they’re promising to provide hourly updates going forward. Unfortunately, one thing they haven’t revealed is any kind of timeline for resolving these issues.
“We’re sorry for the ongoing extended instability. We had a critical failure with one of our account service databases. As a result, our login and matchmaking systems are unstable. Our team has been working through the night on fixes in order to bring the game fully back up. Right now we don’t know how long it will take, but we will update you hourly.
“Thanks for your patience while we work to resolve these issues.”

Hopefully this issue is resolved soon, but in the meantime, good luck finding a match. I guess there’s always PUBG.
