Our match on Saturday was one of the least active bouts yet. Only 69 votes were cast! In light of this low participation,
Diablo came out on top, garnering 41% of the vote. With the conclusion of that round, we now know what the first bout of Round 2 will be! In fact, with only three fights remaining in Round 1 (and a total of 4 match-ups in Round 2), at this time next week we’ll be starting the more intense one-on-one bouts of Round 3!

Focusing on the present, however, we’re looking at a number of well known titles with a heavy emphasis on real-time action, rather than turn-based mechanics. The first game joins two of its brothers on the battlefield as
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind takes on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. These games are known for their expansive worlds and many quest lines, and they truly comprise one of the greatest Western RPG franchises ever created. Facing them in a battle to the death is the Japanese title Dark Souls II. While Dark Souls II may not be as popular as its brethren (which did not make it into our tournament, much to the disappointment of many), it is still known for its crushing difficulty and emphasis on learning from your mistakes.

To vote, simply use the poll included above, but be quick! Match-ups in this round only last a day and there’s no going back, so once the poll closes, it’s closed for good. Which of today’s games will make it out alive? Be sure to check back tomorrow to find out, and don’t forget to
visit the tournament’s hub page, where you can find the complete list of contenders, as well as up-to-date standings.

As you may have noticed, we again missed yesterday’s bracket match-up. This was due to some miscommunication on our end. In an effort to keep things on track, we’re running the
Chrono Trigger bout simultaneously with this one, so make sure you vote in that contest once it goes up later today!

The combatants for the next match-up are:
Lufia II, Suikoden II, Secret of Mana 2, and Chrono Trigger.

A reminder to readers and votes: Please be civil with one another. This tournament is for everyone’s enjoyment, and we want it to stay fun for all who choose to be involved, no matter which games they support. Those who attack others in the comments will be temporarily banned and, if they continue to do so, will removed indefinitely. We really do not want to do this, so please keep it rated E (or E10), and thanks for your enthusiasm!
