Yesterday’s match, without a doubt, was one of the closest and most highly contested of this competition thus far. Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger each had an extended amount of time in the lead, but Golden Sun managed to come up from behind and clinch the win! The fan-favorite has earned its spot in Round 3, and today it’s time to vote for the game it’ll fight against for a spot in the finals.

Today’s match sees the conclusion of Round 2 with our final eclectic bracket, featuring RPGs from all walks of life. Fallout 3 give this group some Western vibes and serious themes to set the tone, while Tales of Symphonia moves our dial over to the Eastern side of things with its animation and story style. The World Ends With You proudly continues this representation of culture from across the pond with its trademark focus on Japanese style and art, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door closes our bracket with yet another heavyweight Nintendo competitor.

To vote, simply use the poll included above, but be quick! Match-ups in this round only last a day and there’s no going back, so once the poll closes, it’s closed for good. Which game will make it into the top 4? Be sure to check back tomorrow to find out, and don’t forget to visit the tournament’s hub page, where you can find the complete list of contenders, as well as up-to-date standings.

Tomorrow’s match will formally begin Round 3, along with some new rules for our tournament. We’ll explain these again in full tomorrow, but the quick and dirty of it is that you’ll have plenty more time to vote since the stakes are raised! See you here tomorrow for the beginning of the end of our first showdown!

The combatants for the next match-up are: Pokemon HeartGold & SouldSilver and Mother 3.

A reminder to readers and voters: Please be civil with one another. This tournament is for everyone’s enjoyment, and we want it to stay fun for all who choose to be involved, no matter which games they support. Those who attack others in the comments will be temporarily banned and, if they continue to do so, will removed indefinitely. We really do not want to do this, so please keep it rated E (or E10), and thanks for your enthusiasm!
