“A short time ago, in a galaxy far from far away, prepare for an astonishing adventure through history full of danger and full of artistry! At stake, were not just one boys fate, but the fate of the whole moon and the earth and the sun and galaxy! …May the forceps — I mean scissors — be with you! — Puppeteer E3 2013 Trailer

Puppeteer, a title in development by SCE Japan Studio, has just been given a new E3 trailer, showcasing the bombastically beautiful platformer’s crazy-charming art-style, environments, and game play. Puppeteer’s aesthetic is somewhat reminiscent of Junction Point’s Epic Mickey, with a spectacular mix of dark and whimsical elements. The game play is in the 2.5-dimensional sidescroller genre, and looks to contain tons of high-energy platforming action.

The release date for Puppeteer is scheduled for September 10th, this fall, and, as it is a Sony-published game, it will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

I write editorials here at Gamnesia and occasionally some news (though far less often than I used to). Here's some of my work, long-form game essays, if you have any interest in that sort of stuff: The Amount of Content in a Game Has Nothing to do with its Price A Game's Atmosphere is Defined by its Mechanics, Not its Aesthetic The Witcher 3's Introduction is Terribly Paced and Too Restrictive of its Players I'm looking forward to The Last Guardian (had it pre-ordered since 2010), Rime, Night in the Woods, and Vane. If I had a niche, it would probably be the somewhat higher fidelity indie games, as take up most of the spots on that list. I'm also developing a no-budget video game with a friend, and you can follow me on Twitter (@TheVioletBarry) to hear about that and anything else I feel like saying. Film, games, it's that sort of stuff.
