The day is finally here, Pikachu fans! Detective Pikachu launched in Japan back in 2016, and now it’s finally available in the West. The new version of the game that just launched in North America and Europe (with Australia to follow tomorrow) comes with triple the content of the original, with nine cases to solve. Nintendo has uploaded an extensive launch trailer, and you can check it out above.
In addition to Detective Pikachu finally seeing release outside of Japan, a film adaptation is on the way. With Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) as director, Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) attached as writers, and Ryan Reynolds cast as the voice of Detective Pikachu himself, the project is aiming for a 2019 release. Filming for Detective Pikachu kicked off in January, with London as the primary location.
