The Pokémon franchise has been through quite a lot since Mewtwo originally sought out revenge in 1998’s Pokémon: The First Movie, and the series is preparing to take a look at its past with its twentieth film, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! To those of you eagerly hoping for more information on the movie, you’re in luck, as a brand new trailer has just released in Japan. It mainly gives us a new look at some familiar events from the first season of the Pokémon anime; from Ash’s initial struggles to train Pikachu to the iconic moment when he first saw the legendary Ho-Oh, there’s plenty of reasons for nostalgic fans to get hyped for this new film.

Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! is set to release in Japan on July 15th, 2017. There is currently no word on when the movie will come to Western audiences, but hopefully we’ll get word of that soon. In the meantime, you can check out the new trailer above!
