Update: We have the footage!

As per tradition, Ubisoft has once more debuted a lengthy live gameplay demo of the latest Assassin’s Creed game to spice up the Sony E3 press conference – and this time we got to see Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag running on the PlayStation 4.

The visuals are noticeably stronger than those of III, with what appears to be revamped stealth and realistically moving foliage that reacts to protagonist Kenway’s touch. Perhaps most interesting is the quick-moving variation of environment afforded by the island setting; sunset-lit beach, drunken pirate party, dense jungle, burning port town and high seas are all markedly different… and yet flow between each other almost seamlessly.

Unfortunately, the live stage demo suffered from some severe lagging, and we do not yet know the reasoning for it. The demo ended abruptly with some severe glitching, played over by orchestral “pirate music” fanfare.

Stay tuned as we update with the footage.

Our Verdict

Born amidst a storm of sea and flame and living mostly obscured by the mists of time, the entity referred to as some by GestaltReplicant makes his living off of dew collected from the leaves of plants at dawn and the clams brought to him by his pet talking turtle. Educated in the scenic Miskatonic valley in the early 1900's, he is considered by many an expert on marine fungus taxonomy.
