An actor named Cort King recently uploaded a photo to his Instagram account with a caption claiming that he is playing the role of a new main character in the upcoming Watch Dogs 2. Hours after uploading the photo, he set his account to private, and neither Cort King nor Ubisoft have commented on the incident since. The photo was captioned with “Had a blast doing motion capture work as the lead character in a new video game series!” and “#WatchDogs2,” and it was accompanied with a 3D model of a character wearing sunglasses and a bandana, exactly in the style of the original Watch Dogs.
The original photo, which was later taken off of Instagram, can be seen in the gallery below.
Cort King’s comment, and the fact that the photo was quickly taken down, heavily imply that Watch Dogs 2 will feature a new lead protagonist, in place of Watch Dogs‘ Aiden Pearce. However, as IGN pointed out, it’s possible from King’s phrasing that he simply meant he will be playing a new main character, who won’t necessarily replace Pearce as the lead. Of course, until Ubisoft provides more information about the game, there is no way to know for sure.
Watch Dogs 2 will be released sometime this year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
